My Bio
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? Or better yet, if there is art that is created with no one to enjoy it, is it still art? That is part of the mental trap that I had created for myself the past many years. I had fallen in the habit of just sculpting something for my own amusement, then I would quickly loose interest and move to the next one. One day I woke up and realized that I have over a dozen clay heads that are in desperate need of torsos. It's time for myself to complete my art , knowing how creepy it would sound if someone asked to see my work and the best response I would have is "Sure, come to my house and I'll pull all the heads out of the cabinet".Hopefully having a community to get feedback from and interact with will give myself the motivation and input to actually see my art to completion.

It's been roughly a month since my last journal update, but that doesn't mean I've been taking it easy when it comes to my sculpting.  In fact, I've been pushing myself to shake things up a bit...hence the title of my journal entry.  The sculptures leading up to my Sabretooth bust have a rather static and posed quality to them.  The bust was the first time I tried to incorporate a sense of action.  I was pleased that the dynamic quality of it broke me a bit out of my rut, but still left unfulfilled.  The next sculpture was my smaller scale figurative Gambit sculpture.  I took the element of flow I learned from the bust and incorporated extra

My wife and myself just returned home from C2C2 this evening.  If I can sum up the experience in one word it would be "WOW!".   Fans of nerd culture are just the most positive, friendly, imaginative, and personable people you could ever ask to meet...I'm truly blessed to be part of that group.  Things fell into place almost like destiny was predetermined.  Thursday nights arrival to the hotel found a lot of recognizable guests in attendance.  My wife goaded me into leaving our room and hanging in the front lobby couch, where I got quite a shock as to who was seated at the adjacent couch.  Jason Adams and some of his associates were sitting di

It is officially a new year and with it come aspirations that I'm going to hone my skills to a science.  My wonderful wife had made some wise choices to gift me this holiday.  FANTASY SCULPTING by the Shiflett Brothers was an exteamly wise decision on her part.  I can not recommend this video enough for anyone who is interested in the sculpting process.  A couple statements that the artists made during the video really stuck with me. The first was that if something doesn't look right it needs to be fixed, even if you are scared of messing up your piece in the process.  That really stuck with me and caused me to pull the prior sculpted heads t

Thanks for adding my Steam punker Kitty to your collection. There are a few head sculptors in the field so all they got it just heads in their shelf. It is okay if those heads don't have torsos as long as you keep going. Good luck.
